'68 Tourist Trophy
The 1968 Tourist Trophy held at Oulton Park was won by Denny Hulme driving a Steering Wheel Club Lola T70. David Piper was second in his Ferrari 412 P, with Paul Hawkins bringing his Ford GT40 home in third place. The winner received the Tourist Trophy and £1,000. The race programme shows that a breakfast of egg, bacon, sausage, tomato, bread and butter in the Oulton Park cafeteria cost 5/6d, while a steak pie was 2/6d. A Sunbeam Stiletto with 875cc engine and a top speed of 90mph was advertised by Rootes at £813
