Ulsterman John Watson drove his McLaren MP4 to victory at the 1981 British Grand Prix, held at Silverstone, in what was the team's first win under the leadership of Ron Dennis. Sadly, this was also Gilles Villeneuve's last appearance in a British GP before his untimely death the following year at Zolder during qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix
