The GKN Binfield Transmission Trophy race for Formula 3 cars supported the 1970 International Trophy at Silverstone. The race, a round of the Shell Super Oil British F3 Championship, was won by Dave Walker driving a Gold Leaf Team Lotus 59 Holbay Ford, followed by Ian Ashley in a Chevron B15 Holbay Ford and Bev Bond in a Gold Leaf Team Lotus 59. James Hunt finished 4th in a Molyslip Lotus 59
